As something just to have fun working on to see what it could do,
I bought one of those cheap 7" Android tablets that are made in China and go for 100 dollars, it was very limited in what it could do when it first arrived, wouldn't even play YouTube. I downloaded a firmware upgrade made by the people at Slatedroid, and it made a big difference, I actually enjoy the tablet now, have been using it every day.

A. If you're rooted & have Clockworkmod, it is as simple as flashing the gapps zip file.
Unfortunately for less popular tablets, often the clockworkmod recovery isn't available. I found this thread on a forum that has a step-by-step for installing the market [Google Play]:

however, it looks relatively hard. I think I could do it, because I've been flashing roms for a while now.
Also you can look to see if there is a custom rom that already has google play included.
Or you can always try the Amazon marketplace, you can install it just by downloading the .apk file & install it.
