A. Motorola Xoom
If you are buying a tablet PC, you can't beat the Xoom. Not even with all newly announced upcoming tablets from the other companies.
Next-generation tablet with 10.1-inch display, Android 3.0 platform
Front-facing 2-megapixel camera
32 GB internal memory; Wireless-N Wi-Fi
Check it for a very good deal:

Why aren't tablet and phone UIs more like those on computers?
Q. I have for a long time felt uncomfortable about the user interface of cellphones, because they tend to simplify things for you too much. I wish they were organized more like computers, so that I have more control over everything on my device. Specifically, I miss the way the computer is organized into folders that I create on my own, the way everything starts at the desktop, and continues in the "my computer".
When the iPad came out I was hoping that it would be arranged in a more OSX kind of way, but instead it had the ios. The same thing goes for the android tablets, they just turned out to be bigger versions of the cellphones.
I realize that this might be difficult to pull off on such small devices, as it might require a lot of power. However, considering the motorola xoom and the upcoming samsung galaxy tablets all have dual-core processors this should surely no longer be a problem!? Honeycomb still seems a little childish to me.
Perhaps I just haven't come across the right ones yet. I know that there have been palm-computers in the past, that match what I am describing, but frankly they are too expensive for me. The same thing goes for the tablets. I know the older ones had some sort of windows version or similar, until the iPad came along and somehow lowered that standard. But is there anything like this going on in terms of Android or similar? I really like Google, and would like to get an Android device when the right one comes around.
Tl;dr I guess would be if there are any plans of making tablets more computer like when it comes to ui. Cellphones as well.

A. part of that is simple, the hardware in most phones can't handle it. They aren't the strongest and for a smoother more desirable product, smartphones and later tablets went with a simpler OS. its faster and much much easy to navigate toward things you want to do
Another part is security, most people don't know half the folders on their computer and they don't want to know. Its a waste of space, a hindrances, and a hassle. In the most case they they deleting things they think unimportant and damage the phone.
they final part of that is control by the manufacturing. In the rare case someone messing with those files knows what they are doing, it takes away revenue from the company.
As for shifting back to towards the UI's found on computers, not likely. The large majority of people don't want it that way. tablets and smoothness aren't replacing computers for a reason. Phone is still a phone, a tablet is a gaming device. The biggest gripe about the iPad 1 was it wasn't gamer friendly. the computer is the business device, the tablet and the phone are not.
