Q. what tablet is best for an 11 year old? nook tablet or kindle fire? what has the best games? any other tablets that are just as good in the $200 area? what are the pros/cons? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanx!
A. Hi hothead, did you know that you can actually get refurbished Nook Color for $139 on OverStock.com or in official B&N store on eBay.com with one year warranty and that Nook Color now streams Netflix movies and got a lot of apps (Angry Birds, etc.)? If you can find extra $50 you should get Nook Tablet that is Nook Color 2 - is the best and been getting rave pro reviews on the web and it is the best device in it's class - much better than Kindle Fire. It's got Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Angry Brids, etc., the best battery life (30% Better), the best non-glare laminated screen (visibly noticeable difference in side by side tests in video playback and eBooks reading), double the RAM and space for apps/photos/movies, microSD slot (not on Kindle) and a microphone for Skype (not on Kindle), and much zippier performance during video playback and apps usage than choppy/laggy act of Kindle Fire according to many user reviews. Also, it's been reported that many Kindle Fire units have faulty Wi-Fi and people have a lot of issues connecting to internet according to many user reviews. Amazon's own web site has hundreds (more than 1800 now) of reviews of Kindle Fire's new owners that gave it 1 or 2 star reviews because of choppy/laggy experience they got from this underpowered device. Other issues are that it runs hot to touch, video playback is jerky, touch screen is not responsive and it takes 2-3 touches to register, power button placement is very poor and is prone to accidental power off, all the hype of Silk browser is a myth where the browsing is actually slower than on other Android tablets, etc.
What are the best tablets under $210?
Q. I'm going to buy a tablet tomorrow. I just have NO idea which one to get for under $210. Any suggestions? I heard that Android tablets are really good? Are they? I especially want one with a camera/webcam. Please answer! I chose best answer! Which one should I get? I prefer to not buy one online so if there are any good ones at Walmart or Sears etc. that would be great!
Thanks so much! God Bless!

A. Well Jessica,
Having the best is relative to what you intend to do with it. The latest Nexus 7 would be the best overall Android based system, the operating software is called Jellybean. The second overall good tablet would be an e-reader that would be Kindle Fire. Reason being, Kindle is tied to Amazon and Nexus is tied to Google, both companies have huge inventory of any and everything you could ever want. As you sift through the tablets ask yourself or someone else to whom does the tablet belong too. This will give you the ambition the manufacturer has for the experience of owning one.
For instance, Sony has an e-reader in black and white. However, Sony's vaults have everything from Michael Jackson's hits to the Beatles in music. Sony has a slew of books and programs its seemingly infinite. On the other hand, Pandigital. Ask yourself to whom does this tablet belong to? Ask out loud. Ask anyone. Ask a stranger walking down the street. Same answer from every where. No one. Pan who? Pandigital might have a good product but they are in the game for a different reason, this company is not bringing forth legacies like Sony, they are trying to make a buck. Sony and Amazon are willing to put in your hand a device that is capable to mine the store so to speak. There store specifically. I recommend you figure out what you want with Googles Nexus 7, Barnes and Nobles Nook, Amazon's Kindle and Sony's e-reader and call it a day. Those brands for the money are your best bet.
This would be a small screen size compared to the aforementioned e-readers but Apple's ipod is a very good choice that can be purchased within your budget, even a refurbished unit can square you away. Apple adds a new warranty to all refurbished products so you save 10-15% off new products. Check out Amazon to see for yourself.
Best.

Should I get an Ipad or a Macbook pro?
Q. I have enough money for the regular 1199 macbook pro. But i was thinking to save money and just get a tablet either an android or an ipad and next year buy a retina macbook before college. The money i save this year I plan to use on books for my collection and clothes. Any advice??
A. iPad is a good device, but you won't get all the functionality of a full-fledged laptop. At the same time, I can't recommend a 13" MacBook Pro because most people I know that owned one outgrew it in a year or two.
I'd tell you to take a look at the refurbished MacBook Pro 15" instead; you get the same warranty as a brand new one, but it's much less expensive. This one, for instance - http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC721LL/A - is $30 more than the brand new 13" model, has faster graphics, a larger, higher resolution screen, and a quad-core processor. The only drawback is that it lacks USB 3, but USB 3 ports don't like some USB 1 and 2 devices.
As for why to get an Apple over an Asus or any other brand of laptop, being that you'll be a student and you'll need your computer pretty much all the time, Apple has the huge advantage of the Genius Bar. With software issues, Windows-based laptops can be back up and running in a couple of hours, just like a Mac with software issues; however, hardware warranty repairs for a Windows laptop can take between days and weeks depending on who you take it to and how their service works, while most Mac hardware repairs (everything short of replacing the motherboard) can be done at the Genius Bar, usually in as little as 15-30 minutes. The same holds true with desktop computers.

Which electronic tablet/pad/slate (like iPad) should I buy?
Q. I would like to buy some sort of tablet or slate type of thing similar to the iPad. I know there are many types of them like G-slate or Epad etc....I want one that works really well and can use flash player. Also I would prefer it to be around $150 or lower if there are no good ones at that price than 250 would be ok.
A. A good Android tablet will run you $399 and up. With as low a price point as you're looking for, I'd seriously suggest looking at the Barnes and Noble Color Nook. Not quite as powerful as an iPad, but it's Android-based, runs flash, as has really high customer satisfaction and fan base. You can probably find a factory refurbished (make sure it "factory" refurbished) one cheap enough, around $200. Please, do NOT consider one of these Chinese-manufactured wholesale tablets $150-350, with weird-sounding names. They look great on paper and in photos, but are amazingly horrible pieces of garbage. A lot of posters like to come on here and link to their online wholesale stores, stating things like "I buy tablet this recently and much happy with it". Yeah... run.
