How do you get ice cream sandwich on your kindle?

Q. I have a kindle fire. I figure if you hack your kindle fire you can installed ice cream sandwich which makes your kindle a android tablet. Except I don't know how to. I need help

A. Hi Michael, I cannot help with the specific instructions but just one point to make here - you'd have lost Kindle Fire warranty when you rooted it. If you had instead Nook Tablet (that has much better performance and screen than Fire), you could've "rooted" Nook via microSD boot card and could switch back and forth between different OS versions by switching the microSD cards. Nooks have microSD slot while Kindles don't. Also, known issues with Kindle Fire are that it runs hot to touch, video playback is jerky, touch screen is not responsive and it takes 2-3 touches to register, power button placement is very poor and is prone to accidental power off, all the hype of Silk browser is not true where the browsing is actually slower than on other Android tablets, Wi-Fi connection gives a lot of trouble to users on it, etc.

Can I use Magic Jack on a regular Android Tablet?
Q. Can I use MagicJack on just a simple Android Tablet by just plugging it into the tablets USB port or is there an app. I know on the Ipad there is an app but I cant afford an Ipad. It would be just a normal Android 2.3 Tablet. Or would it have to be a windows Tablet?

A. It looks like it's doable - see http://pocketnow.com/android/use-your-magicjack-account-on-your-android

what is the difference between ipad and regular tablet with android?
Q. ipad is $600 and 7" tablet with android 2.3 at frys is $100.
Why so much of a difference. Is there somthing that ipad can do and regular tablet cannot?

A. I don't know what you mean by 'regular tablet', they're all tablet computers.
As to the difference, buying an iPad locks you in to 1 vendors hardware & supply chain, as you are limited to buying apps & services via Apple, & have to use the OS as is...
Android is Open Source, hence no lock-in, so you can get apps from many different sources, & hack the OS to your specific requirements.
Also, most Android devices have better connectivity than iPads, from what I've seen of them in shops. And iPads seem a bit flimsy compared to some Android hardware as well.

Yes, iPad does do something that Android can't. It can empty your wallet really quickly.

can you download skype on any android tablet?
Q. hi so i wanted to buy some android tablet which i can use for skype and stuff, on android market skype is free. what android version can i do it on 2.1 2.2 or 2.3, can it be any tablet with webcam or some specific one. thnks in advance!

A. I have the Asus EEE Pad Transformer and there is a Skype app for my tablet. Some tablets have different hardware, but as a rule of thumb if you see it in the google market on the device, it will work with your device. You can usually go to Costco, or BestBuy and check out the device there.
