What is the difference of wi-fi options on a tablet?

Q. Why does the Kindle tablet advertise free 3G and WiFi and the epad 7 android just says WiFi?

A. hi, marge, kindle tablet (Fire) does NOT have 3G.
it appears all over the web now that many Kindle Fire units have faulty Wi-Fi and people have a lot of issues connecting to internet according to many user reviews. Amazon's own web site has hundreds of reviews of Kindle Fire's new owners that gave it 1 or 2 star reviews because of choppy/laggy experience they got from this underpowered device. All pro reviewers on the web notes that Nook Tablet is a much better device with superior performance compared to Kindle Fire - better battery life, much better screen, double the RAM and space for apps/photos/movies, microSD slot and a microphone for Skype (not on Kindle), physical volume controls on the side (not on Kindle), and much zippier performance during video playback and apps usage than choppy/laggy act of Kindle Fire according to many user and pro's reviews.

What model of android tablets supports SMS messaging and calls?
Q. I'm finding a tablet that can be used as a phone with SMS messaging and call support like the samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus...
Is there any other models or brand that has the same features?...
Price is not an issue...I just need info...
Thanks in advance!
Regards!
In addition, I need unlocked versions... :)

A. I can give you two choices ..... new android 4.0 tablets now available. Those tablet are the "iPad killers" and supporting SMS messaging with the "mySMS" application.

- Cube U9GT2 (16GB) ~249$

- ONDA vi40 Elite (16GB) ~289$

Both the Onda VI40 Android 4.0 IPS Capacitive tablet PC and the Cube U9T2 ICS have very similar specifications and features. First is the 9.7" Capacitive multi-touch IPS screen.

Onda made its name way back in 2008 when it released a 4.3" touch screen mp4 player that please called an iPod Touch wannabe or alternative. This model did well, but the marketing and product development of the company went astray.

This is why I was both suprised and happy to be reviewing first 9.7" Android 4.0 tablet PC by Onda, the VI40 Elite Edition Tablet PC. Boasting 9.7-inch 1024 x 768 capacitive multi-touch IPS display it seems to be 5-point touch. It adopts the fastest yet 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A10 processor with Mali-400 GPU (graphics processor).

The onda VI40 Elite tablet also packs dual cameras, a 1.3 Mega Pixel front-facing camera and a 5.0M pixel rear-facing camera. More the VI40 supports 2160p Super HD video playback.

It has a 6500mAh battery giving you around 4.5 to 5 hours of internet surfing time.

The Cube U9GT2 also has a 9.7" IPS screen but with a more responsive 10-point multi touch screen. The processor is not as fast but will do the job clocking in at 1.2GHz on a Rockchip RK2918 CPU.

In addition to a better screen, the Cube Android 4.0 Tablet also has 16gb of built-in memory compared to Onda's 8gb. The Cube tablet also has larger 8000mah battery for 6 hours of internet surfing or "10 hours music, 4 hours video, 5 hours wifi."

The Cube doesn't have a 5mp camera but it does have dual 2 mega pixel cameras for quality photos and video from front and back.

The Onda VI40 Elite may prove to rule supreme as today's android tablet forum enthusiasts like the cheapest deal, even if the battery only gets an hour less usage from a full charge.

Both have microSD card slots so one could buy a memory card to make up for the 8gb of memory the Onda so dearly misses.

Last thought, the Apple iPad 2 should be wetting its pants now. Both of these tablets are more powerful and have just as responsive capacitive screens. Not to mention extra goodies like dual cameras and open source Ice Cream Sandwich. Yum!

Is there an app that will allow an android tablet video chat with a pc/mac?
Q. i need an android app that will allow video chat to computers with cameras. I currently have the new Nexus 7 with Tango installed on it and it seems that it can only video chat with other tablets and smartphones. Is there an app out there that works with android and will allow video chat with PC and mac computers?

A. There are many apps that allow you to audio/video chat with contact using you data connection and that is independent from the device OS (Windows, Linux, Android, Symbian...):

The first one of course is Skype, skype has millions of users and is owned by Microsoft, be aware that there are many apps that use the Skype name and are malware, so only download from trusted sources:

There are other apps that serve the same purpose, here's a list of 'em:

What is the best tablet for under $250 ?
Q. I want an internet tablet that has a capacitive screen, Front facing camera for skype, video playback, and games. I cant spend too much so i would prefer it to be around 200 if possible, if not tell me the cheapest tablet with those capabilities :)

A. With the possible exception of the fire sale on HP TouchPads at $100, I've not yet found a tablet under $250 that I would buy. Here are some candidates that haven't held up to closer review:

It's not until the $250 (Nook Color -- no camera, though), $400 (ASUS Transformer), or $500+ (Galaxy Tab 10.1, Xoom, Toshiba Thrive, etc) ranges that you'll find Android tablets getting more respectable receptions by customers.
