Q. Simply, what does an android tablet do and what can you use it for? Also what can like go on it?
A. A tablet is a type of PC, but it is in a compact 'slate' form that doesn't include keyboard, mouse, DVD drive and other extra parts that only add to size and cost.
Tablets are in short specifically made for consuming content - that means watching movies, surfing the net, checking emails, playing games and reading e-books and other documents.
They are light and compact so you can easily slip them into your bag.
Rather than a mouse you just touch the screen where you want to make a selection. This can make typing a lot a little difficult, but for the odd email they're fine and great for games.
One of the best things about Android is that you can download thousands of free apps, applications, that allow you to do almost anything - games, calendars, keeping fit, music players, e-book readers; you can get apps for almost anything and generally as I said they are free.
You can also download music and movies and put them on your memory card and then watch them.
If you connect to the internet with Wifi you can even use the net for free and make skype calls for free etc.
I buy my tablets from Virtual village - they have a wide range of sizes from 5 to 10 inch tablets - I would go for larger sizes such as 10 inch if possible as they are clearer when it comes to watching movies.

Is an android tablet good for a student?
Q. I am thinking about getting an android tablet because my laptop broke. I am a student so I need to know if it would be good for school work. I don't do a lot on the computer for school mostly typing ( I know about the keyboard I am going to get a wireless keyboard) and a little research. I would also use it for other stuff like youtube and stuff but what about school work??
A. Tablet is not good for typing ...
Exists in the Tablet Applications to Create Microsoft Office Files, but it is rather difficult to use ...
but the tablet is very good to use for multimedia ...
Wireless Keyboard prices were also quite expensive ...
but for students like you, Tablet is also quite good ...
you should just wait Tablet of Windows 8 or Windows 7 only, because it has a nice office applications and if you are familiar with Windows OS, I recommend select Tablet Windows 8 or Windows 7 only ...
to problem of typing, you just buy Wirless Keyboard ...
For now, Windows 8 has not been released by Microsoft ...

Can an android tablet be a substitute for a laptop?
Q. I was wondering if an Android tablet would be a viable substitute for a laptop? I take a couple of online classes at my college and was wondering if the the Android browser would support a school website.
A. This depends on what you are wanting to use it for. The default browser most likely will not support your schools site but that is not that big of a deal. I would recommend Skyfire for browsing that mimics that of a desktop. As for browsing the schools site the tablet will work fine. Uploading pictures and papers is easier from a tablet than from a laptop in my opinion. However you would not want to use a tablet to compose a paper, or type any lengthy document. So if you want this to replace your desktop you will want an add-on keyboard. (I prefer a bluetooth keyboard so it does not have to be physically tethered to the tablet)
can android tablets use all the apps that android phones can?, and is a tablet better then a laptop?
Q. i was just wondering, because i may buy a android tablet, or some tablet, but are they better then laptops, they can use the net and such just as a normal computer can, right? and are there any just touchscreen laptops that run on windows?
A. I believe that they can use all the apps available to the phones
Whether it's better than a laptop is a matter of personal opinion. You'll be missing a keyboard, it won't be as powerful, etc, but they're fantastic on battery and touch is a great way to work.
I own a touchscreen laptop. Mine is an HP Touchsmart Tablet. It's like a tablet in that you can swivel the screen and that's all you'll see of the laptop, but it's a laptop. It wasn't too expensive either (as an answer below me would have you believe).. It was about $850-900, not much more than an android tablet, and much more powerful and useful.
